Some, like raw bar oysters and clams, need nothing more than a sharp knife and skilled hand to unleash the briny seasonings of the sea. Near a what? There’s no area of Boston referred to as the “Bay Area. ” The area of the ocean adjacent to Boston is a harbor, not a bay. There is an area named Back Bay, and if that’s what you’re talking about, your best bet is to find a restaurant on Newbury Street or nearby there using Zagat, Phantom, or Yelp.

That said, I’ve heard good things about Mare, The Sail Loft, Tia’s, Union Oyster House, and Legal Sea Foods. However, most nice restaurants will have some seafood on their menu even if it isn’t the focus because it’s easy to get fish when you’re right on the coast.
